This is a selection of a native North American species. Reaches a tall mature height of 20 ft and narrow width of 3 ft. Lives most comfortably in climates that drop to a minimum of -30 F. Once established, Skyrocket is drought tolerant and often used as a screen in suburban settings or windbreak in more open areas. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Features very attractive silvery-blue foliage that holds color well throughout the year. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil, and will often die in standing water. This shrub should only be grown in full sunlight. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 70 years or more.
